The Kia Sorento SUV has finally earned top praise from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The Sorento earned top "good" marks in all five crashworthiness tests - small front overlap, moderate front overlap, roof strength, side impact and head restraints and seats - as well as scoring the highest level "superior" rating in the crash avoidance and mitigation evaluation. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2018 Sorento a five-star overall rating, with five-star marks earned in all but the rollover category, in which it scored four stars.


The 2018 Kia Sorento comes optionally equipped with a full suite of safety features including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, rear cross traffic alert and blind spot detection, 360-degree camera and rear parking assist.
